Job Description

Louisiana-based professional surveying firm specializing in both land and hydrographic surveying is seeking motivated individuals to join our field operations team as Entry Level Field Survey Technicians. This position provides hands-on training in land surveying, hydrographic surveying, LiDAR, GPS, and other advanced geospatial technologies.

No previous surveying experience is required. We are looking for dependable individuals with strong work ethics, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Successful candidates will work alongside experienced survey crews on projects throughout Louisiana and surrounding states.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist survey crews with land and hydrographic survey operations.
  • Transport, set up, and maintain survey equipment.
  • Operate GPS equipment, total stations, data collectors, and other survey instruments after training.
  • Assist with drone, LiDAR, sonar, and other specialized data collection equipment.
  • Drive company vehicles and tow trailers when required.
  • Load and unload equipment at project sites.
  • Maintain field notes and assist with documentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of survey equipment and vehicles.
  • Follow company safety procedures and client safety requirements.
  • Travel throughout Louisiana and occasionally neighboring states.
  • Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and terrain.

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to obtain TWIC card (or willingness to obtain after hire).
  • Ability to swim is preferred due to occasional work around boats and waterways.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.

Previous experience in surveying, construction, heavy equipment, farming, military service, mechanics, boating, or other outdoor technical work is considered a plus but is not required.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Walk several miles per day over uneven terrain.
  • Work in mud, marshes, forests, construction sites, bridges, and waterways.
  • Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and high humidity.
  • Climb into and out of boats and vehicles.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Occasionally work long days depending on project schedules.
